Signs That It’s Time to Check Your Tires

Listed below are four of the most common tire issues drivers will encounter at some point in their lives on the road.

Alignment Issues

If your tires look like they are leaning into (negative camber) or away from (positive camber) the body of your vehicle, this means your tires are out of alignment and should be serviced immediately. Driving like this is both dangerous to you and bad for your vehicle.

Another sign of an alignment issue is your tires pointing inward (toe-in) or outward (toe-out) from your vehicle. This is called a feathered tread and will need to be serviced as soon as possible before more severe damage is caused to your car.

Inflation Issues

Overinflated tires will make your ride noticeably harsher, shorten the overall tread life, lengthen stopping distance, and put you at a greater risk for severe pothole damage.

Underinflated tires will also shorten tread life, in addition to reducing fuel economy and increasing the friction that causes tire failure over time.

Rotation Neglect

If you notice that the tread does not look even across all four of your tires, it is time to rotate or even replace your tires. By rotating your tires roughly every six months, you not only keep your tires healthier for a longer period of time, but you also protect your car from more expensive alignment issues further down the road.

If you ever notice a bubble or bubble-type shape developing in the sidewall of your tire, get it replaced as soon as possible. This indicates that there is a tear in the inner liner of your tire. These issues, commonly caused by a pothole or obstruction, cause the tire to pinch against the wheel rim.
